Hey there! I'm from Belarus and I'm here to get some help for my friend, who is doing her Ph.D. thesis now. She studies in linguistic university and she needs 50 English native speakers to fill in a short survey. I've got all my english friends to fill it in and we've got 20 completed, still 30 to go :) I decided to try your forum because of the subject of the survey, which is Moral Values. Quite a few of my English friends were asking me what that means  ::)  And some other people even got offended because I was asking them to do it for me, saying that it's too personal and they don't want to share it. I really hope you will take it in a rigth way and will help us, as the deadline is approaching :(

Here is the survey:

Sex:                     M                     F

Age:   14-17      18-22    23-35      36-50       51-65         66-80

Final Education:  school      college        University              advanced degree     (tech/humanitarian)

Please write any words or word combinations that you associate with the concept ‘MORAL VALUES’
(as many as possible in a maximum of 3 minutes)

MORAL VALUES

You can send the filled in survey to my personal messages or on my email anna.arancia@gmail.com.

Thank you very much, I really hope I didn't bother you too much and did't break any rules, if so I deeply apologise.

Hi Arancia,

No, you've not broken any rules! I'll fill in your survey and get it back to you tomorrow - hopefully everyone else will do so as well (it is only 5 mins work).

Hello
Just confirming my membership. I'm a teacher of Philosophy in North East England. My students study Nietzsche, find it difficult but - so they tell me - very rewarding. I still get emails from ex-students several years after leaving saying that things they read in the book have stayed with them. So...even if the book is difficult [and even if the AQA exam board don't know what they are doing] stick with it, it'll be worth it. End of lecture.

I think everyone who teaches or studies Nietzsche feels that way.  Join the club!

I'll second that. All hail Nietzche! Or should that be "All Heil"...  ;)

Nietzsche's influence continues to endure, and rightfully so. He has survived slurs associating him with Nazism, and a good deal of misinterpretation, and I hope that most people now see past the caricature. It's the mark of a great philosopher, I think, that you can continue to enjoy him/her long after you have ceased to worship, and begun to disagree. In that respect - for me - Nietzsche has joined the likes of Plato, Spinoza, Wittgenstein, et al.

As for the exam board, I hope you'll contribute to the teachers' section on this point, David, so as to encourage others to share their experiences.

And welcome to the forum!

Hi to everyone - My name is Ian and just discovering that I like Philosophy. Having read a little about Nietsche and Descarte for my Education and Training BA; I must say that a philosophical outlook in life is no bad thing. :)

Hi Ian,

Thanks for the introduction - and welcome to the forum! Yes, I agree: if the world were just a little more philosophical then everyone would be the better for it! Looking forward to your contributions.

Hello,

I've been booted off of numerous forums before now, let's hope I don't offend anyone here...
