As the more keen-eyed of you will have noticed, things have been quite quiet on PO since the New Year. The main reason for this has been workload: I am currently half-way through writing two books, as well as trying to fulfil various other commitments, so this has pretty much scuppered all my good intentions as regards (a) keeping a monthly blog, (b) reviewing the books I've been sent, (c) writing my Twit's History of Philosophy, and (d) finding the time for the promised updates. However, things should start easing toward the end of April, so hopefully (that word again...) these will start to materialise soon after.

Accordingly, I have renamed "monthly blog" to the more honest "occasional blog" - actually, I think this is a good thing. I have enough deadlines in my life at the moment, so it will hopefully mean that my blogs will be more thoughtful and not just churned out because I suddenly find myself at the end of the month.

However, I am still around to contribute to the forum, so if anyone has any questions, then by all means ask away. I realise that the forum is particularly quiet at the moment - not that it ever gets extremely busy - but I think it does serve a purpose (perhaps more like postal chess than online realplayer strategy game!). Also, its functioning has for a number of months been disrupted by problems at the server-end that meant that people couldn't register (which may have had a bearing on things...).

Anyway, for those of you who rely on the site in any way, and occasionally check back to see if anything is happening, thank you for your patience - things are happening, but slowly!

What are the books you're writing?

Man, when I was young I shoved my ignorance in people's faces. They beat me with sticks. By the time I was forty my blunt instrument had been honed to a fine cutting point for me. If you hide your ignorance, no one will hit you and you'll never learn.

Hi Sunny,

(Sorry for delayed response - I will answer your other post, but I'm moving house at the moment, so no internet access.)

I'm contracted to do 2 more books for Blackwell: one on theory of knowledge, and another on (probably) philosophy of mind (or maybe Hume). However, I'm also two thirds of the way through a book for Quercus - a compilation of philosophy quotes with explanations (should be finished this month). Will try to post some samples eventually.
