  Summary

In this unit we have looked at perhaps the oldest and most familiar form of philosophical theory of mind - dualism. After looking at the theories of Descartes and Plato, we then went on to consider variations upon these views, including, Occasionalism, Parallelism, Double-Aspect Theory and Epiphenomenalism. Finally we looked at the non-Cartesian dualism of E. J. Lowe and its attempt to breakaway from the Cartesian tradition totally.
