Identity
theory attempts to simplify this picture by doing away with the individual
self as the subject of experience and the idea or mental picture as
a separate mental entity. As such, we are left with 3 components:
1. The object (the car)
2. The input through the senses (the perception of the car)
3. Neural activity in the brain
From
this point of view, neural activity in the brain is the same as
mental activity.
